Today's Project

Another sign that I might be ready for summer to end - I had to make a new hat. This one is made from velvet I thrifted, I got some great green velvet at the same time. I think I might make a vest too - I love vests. The lining is one of 2 prints that end up in most of my recent hats. You can see my other hats and linings here.

I really love to make hats, this one's not too difficult (until you attach the top to the band, then you have to be pretty careful) and I just like to have as many hat options as possible since I wear one most every day once it's cold (I wear them in the summer too, but those are mostly store bought).

Wow! That top is awesome. Do you make your own hat patterns?

Thanks! The top is a vintage pattern, made from vintage fabric.

The hat is a modified vogue pattern - I adjusted the brim and the band. I tried to link to Creative Reveries but only the title bar came up - are you Stephanie Sews also? I was able to view that blog (linked from the Granny blog).

I really like the way this hat looks on you and adore the bird fabric lining. I also like that velvet but am not at all ready for summer to end quite yet.

I did say "almost" but even that is jumping the gun isn't it... It's been such a great summer - the best since I have been "grown-up" - I still have one more camping trip planned, so ok - I'll enjoy all of the days that remain!

Enjoy, indeed. I hope that your camping trip is great. Your hat is excellent, and so are you.

It's so cool that you are making hats. I've never thought about sewing them. I have been toying with the idea of crocheting one, though. Love your Johnny Appleseed, too.
